Andhra Pradesh is one of the most hit states in India by the Covid-19 pandemic with high positivity Rate in the second wave of the Pandemic. The percentage of Covid-19 Positive and active cases are decreasing in the state meanwhile the cases among the children are rising which triggered traction for the Government of Andra Pradesh as it indicates the symbol of the acquiring dangerous third wave of the Covid-19 Pandemic in the State

The admission of nine children, aged between four and 10, to the S.V.R. Ruia Government General Hospital in Chittoor district’s Tirupati, alerted the administration. Three of the children are in the ICU. The district has been an epicenter during the first and second wave.

At the S.V.R. Ruia Hospital, which is one of the biggest multi-speciality hospitals in the Rayalseema region has now set up a special pediatric Covid ward.

While Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed officials to create awareness among parents on the possible impact of the third wave on children and its intensity, the Andhra Pradesh government has also decided to train Asha and health workers on identifying pediatric symptoms.

PHCs and area hospitals have been ramped up to provide treatment to children. Three pediatric care centers in Vishakapatnam, Tirupati and Krishna-Guntur regions are being set up as well.

The Covid-19 cases have been decreasing in the state. The positivity rate, which was 25.56 per cent on May 16, has fallen to 10.73 per cent, while active cases have also decreased to 1.23 lakh from 2.11 lakh on May 17. The recovery rate has increased to 92.33 per cent.
