Twitter broke the silence on the new digital rules and the rumors of the app block and ban in India. Twitter today stated that it is concerned over the potential threat to freedom of expression in the middle of its clash with the government over the Congress toolkit row. In a sharply-worded statement, the social media giant said while it will strive to comply with applicable law, it planned to ask for changes to elements in the rules “that inhibit free, open conversation”. This is the first time the micro-blogging site has spoken on the rules that require social media platforms to appoint a compliance officer in India, set up a grievance response mechanism and take down content within 36 hours of a legal order. Whats App has also filed a petition against the government saying that the rules are unconstitutional and violate user privacy in the Delhi High Court. The ban of Social media applications like Twitter, Facebook and Whats app will effectuate the youngsters working in the digital firm apropos to unemployment in India.
